Description

Travel Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Ortho/Neuro/Peds Floor)

Location: Thomasville, Georgia
Assignment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (with possible extension)
Shift: Day shift, every other week (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care on a Medical Surgical unit specializing in Orthopedics, Neurology, and Pediatrics.
  • Minimal to no Return to Origin (RTO) required (must be included on submission).
  • Royal Blue scrubs required (not provided).

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia.
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent Medical Surgical nursing experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Two recent supervisor/manager references verified within 12 months (Charge RN references accepted but not preferred).
  • Proof of education: Diploma or transcript acceptable in lieu of education verification.
  • NURSYS primary source verification required for RN license.
  • Background check: 7-year criminal history check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including SSN trace, counties, national sex offender registry, FACIS Level 3, nationwide check, and education verification.
  • Drug screen: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands.
  • TB testing: QGold or TSPOT within 30 days of start (no PPDs accepted). For past positives, chest x-ray within 2 years and TB questionnaire within 30 days required.
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity (positive titer or vaccination) for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination accepted)
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (9/3 through 3/31) unless approved medical/religious exemption is provided. Exemptions require facility approval and mask wearing at all times. Deadline for flu shot or exemption submission is November 21st.
  • Fit test completed onsite at no cost.

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Completion of assigned HealthStream modules prior to first day.
  • Submission of a passport-style photo (shoulders up, plain background, no selfies) within 24 hours of signing.
  • Completion of facility-specific forms including IS115 and IS119 forms with wet or DocuSign signatures.
  • Review of facility dress code.
  • Completion of OSHA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission annual training or signed attestation.

Additional Notes

  • Start date is approximately 3 weeks from offer acceptance.
  • Candidate must provide a valid driver’s license/state ID (color copy required).
  • Fingerprinting for Georgia Criminal History Check System (GCHEXS) is required only for CNAs; not required for RNs.
  • Skills checklist and competency exams must be updated annually.
  • Performance evaluations and internal evaluations required if candidate has worked with the agency for over 1 year.

This position offers a structured 13-week travel assignment on a specialized MedSurg unit with a focus on orthopedic, neurological, and pediatric patients, requiring solid MedSurg experience and standard RN certifications.
