Registered Nurse (RN) - Surgery

Location

  • Missoula, Montana

Employment Type

  • Travel contract
  • Contract length: 13 weeks

Unit and Patient Population

  • Acute Care unit
  • 31 beds
  • Patient ratio: 1:6
  • Patient population: Adult and Geriatric

Shift and Hours

  • Shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • 36 hours per week
  • Weekend hours: Every third weekend
  • No call requirements

Required Certifications and Licenses

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • Registered Nurse license (RN)

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Montana
  • Minimum 2 years of Med Surg experience
  • Med Surg experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • NG tube placement and management
  • Chest tube maintenance

Additional Information

  • Float to other units as appropriate to experience
  • Common diagnoses treated include small bowel obstructions, diabetic complications, wound care, acute kidney injury, pneumonia, and sepsis
  • Personality fit: Outgoing, excellent communication skills, adaptable to change
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing school, Associate degree or higher
  • Dress code: Any solid color scrubs; fluorescent colors are not acceptable

Training

  • Handle with Care or other formal de-escalation training recommended for ICU, ED, ACS/Med-Surg, NICU, Pediatrics, Labor & Delivery, and other units
