Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 (12-hour shifts)
Call Shifts: 2 call shifts per 6-week period (13 hours each; must be onsite within 1 hour)
Scheduling: No block scheduling
Job Summary
Provide professional nursing care to a group of patients in the Emergency Department (ED) using the nursing process, current nursing trends, technology, and resources. Responsible for patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and continuous evaluation. Maintain patient and staff safety, accurate documentation, and effective communication with healthcare team, patients, and families.
Responsibilities
- Perform all unit-specific nursing duties within scope of service.
- Complete initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Implement and modify nursing interventions based on ongoing patient evaluation.
- Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards.
- Communicate effectively with staff, patients, and families to support a healing environment.
- Provide constructive feedback to peers and engage in professional development.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Apply ED-specific nursing procedures and theories.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current ACLS certification
- Current PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN degree preferred (ASN required).
- Trauma Level 2 or higher experience preferred.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification highly preferred.
Additional Information
- Night shift with 12-hour shifts.
- Call shifts require onsite presence within 1 hour.
- No block scheduling.
