Job Description

• Provide respiratory therapy treatments, with daily treatment counts varying from 5-10 up to 30 depending on patient volume and unit needs (ER, COVID unit, ICU).
• Manage ventilators including Puritan Bennett 840 & 980, LVT 1200, and others with built-in compressors.
• Perform all breathing treatments, EKGs, arterial blood gas (ABG) collections, equipment cleaning, and turnover.
• Maintain accurate charge documentation in the computer system.
• Must be able to float to other floors including nursery, ER, and inpatient units as needed.
• Work independently and be ready to "hit the ground running" after a 1-day floor-specific orientation.
• Flexibility required for weekend shifts (ideally every other weekend but may be more) and all holidays.
• Call is not typically required but may be needed on weekends if short-staffed.
• Schedule requests must be submitted in advance and approved by RT directors.
• Travelers will not be scheduled alone; at least 1-2 permanent staff are on each shift.

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required

Preferred Certifications

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
• Prior travel experience preferred but not required

Additional Information

• Experience with independent intubation is a plus but not mandatory; ER physicians and anesthesia typically respond for intubations.
• EMR system used: CPSI - Evident Thrive (noted as user-friendly).
• Telemetry monitors used: Neon Kohden.
• Scrub colors: Black, gray, or khaki; scrubs provided in COVID unit.
• Pharmacy coverage is not 24/7; Omnicell system in use.
• Charge RT available on day shifts; no charge RT on nights.
• Emergency room physician coverage is in-house 24/7.
