Location: Franklin, Indiana
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
Shift: Days (6:00 AM – 6:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours

Job Description

• Medical Surgical nurse needed for a 13-week travel assignment in a mid-size hospital (34 beds).
• Patient population includes diagnoses such as pneumonia (PNA), COPD, CHF, orthopedic cases (shoulders, hips, knees), appendectomy, cholecystectomy, diverticulitis, bowel resection, and pancreatitis.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: Day shift 1:5, Night shift 1:6.
• Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) support both day and night shifts with a max ratio of 1:12.
• Remote telemetry monitoring available; MS nurses are not responsible for strip interpretation.
• Charge nurse available on both shifts; house supervisor available on nights.
• Floating within Medical-Surgical scope of practice may be required.
• Weekend rotation currently requires 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule.
• Holiday rotation based on calendar.
• Possible call/standby if assignment is canceled, with a 45-minute return policy.
• Dress code: Navy Blue scrubs.

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license for Indiana.
• BLS (AHA) certification required.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required.
• Experience in Medical-Surgical, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Telemetry (Tele), or Critical Care Unit (CCU) required.
• No requirement for RNs to titrate drips; common drips include Heparin per protocol.

Orientation & Scheduling

• Unit-specific orientation includes 1 shift of clinical nursing education plus 2 shifts on the unit with a preceptor.
• Shift length: 12 hours (3 consecutive 12-hour day shifts).
• Self-scheduling available depending on census and staffing.

Equipment & Environment

• Use of chronic BiPAP and CPAP equipment.
• Remote telemetry monitoring with monitor tech support on CCU.
