Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - ER
Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Description
- Work in the Emergency Room (ER) setting.
- Expected to be clocked in and ready for report at the start of each shift.
- Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend and holidays as needed (holiday time off cannot be guaranteed).
- No call or float requirements.
- Block scheduling is not available.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan.
- Minimum 1 year of recent Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year.
- Required certifications:
- ACLS issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS issued by the American Heart Association
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional certifications preferred but not required:
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
Immunizations and Health Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Proof of Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine.
- Negative TB test (PPD or Q Gold/T-Spot) within 30 days of start; if positive, chest x-ray and TB questionnaire required.
- Annual TB questionnaire.
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or documented declination.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/spiritual exemption required for candidates starting after November 1.
- 10-panel drug test including Marijuana/THC within 30 days of start.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 45 days of start, including lifetime search from age 18.
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
- Michigan LARA fingerprinting required within 45 days of start.
- Michigan Central Registry Clearance required for pediatric and certain specialty placements.
- Education verification with copy of highest degree or diploma.
- One professional reference from a supervisor or manager.
- Complete employment application/resume with full 7 years work history, no gaps.
- Annual skills checklist for applicable units.
- Completion of medication/pharmacology competency exam within 1 year prior to assignment start with a passing score of at least 80%.
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Review and sign Code of Conduct and Appearance Standards Policy prior to start.
- Fit test required if working onsite (specific to certain roles and locations).
- Vaccine exemption forms must be submitted and approved in advance if applicable.
