Description
Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Travel/Contract)
Location: Battle Creek, Michigan
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work primarily on a 37-bed Medical Surgical, Surgical, and Oncology unit caring for general medical diagnosis patients.
- Specialties include gastrointestinal, urological, gynecological surgeries, orthopedic/neurovascular, cardio/pulmonary, and surgical patients (e.g., hysterectomies, mastectomies).
- Staffing ratio typically 1:5-6 on nights; may flex to 1:8 with LPN support.
- Floating to other Med/Surg units approximately once per week based on unit needs.
- Must work every other weekend.
- Holiday work is required; holiday time off cannot be guaranteed.
- Block scheduling is not guaranteed.
- Must be willing to work with a variety of staff including RNs, LPNs, and Techs.
- Availability required for the first two weeks of the assignment.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan.
- Minimum of 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
