Description
Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Shift: Day (4 shifts of 12 hours, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
Patient Ratio: 1:6
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Call Requirement: None
Float Requirement: Yes, may float to main campus (~32 minutes away)
Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
Job Description
- Care for patients with diagnoses including diabetes, dementia, COVID-19, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, hip fracture, CHF, UTI, renal failure, hypertension, cellulitis, failure to thrive, and various surgical recovery cases.
- Unit uses Pyxis for medication management.
- Self-scheduling model.
- 24-hour unit orientation.
- Scrubs: Navy blue or white.
- Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start.
- Contract staff may be assigned to Storm/Hurricane Teams and may be required to work during catastrophic events or disasters.
- No block schedules except weekend blocks.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Colostomy/ileostomy management and care
- Pre/Post Hemodialysis management
- Central line blood draw
- Phlebotomy
- PICC line management
- Patient-controlled analgesia (PCA)
- Chest tubes management including Emerson and PleurEvac systems
- BiPAP/CPAP management and maintenance
