Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery

Location: Prescott Valley, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Details

• Unit: Labor & Delivery (L&D)
• Beds: 16 LDRPs (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum)
• Operating Rooms: 2 OB OR suites
• Triage Rooms: 6
• Births: Approximately 1000 per year
• Patient Level: Level II maternity care (down to 32 weeks gestational age)
• Nurse-to-patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines

Schedule & Shifts

• Shift: Days
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours
• Schedule: 4-week rotation
• Weekend Requirement: 1 full weekend every 3 weeks
• Holiday Requirement: 1 major and 1 minor holiday
• On-call Requirement: 18 hours on call per 4-week schedule
• Floating: Not required

Required Certifications & Skills

• BLS (American Heart Association)
• Current Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (prefer AWHONN but others accepted)
• Must pass a sterile technique test on Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on first day of orientation
• Experience with EFM interpretation, sterile vaginal exams (SVEs), IV starts, and managing Magnesium Sulfate
• Ability to titrate drips, including Pitocin

Orientation & Training

• Unit-specific orientation provided
• Clinical interview required prior to offer
• Use of Cerner Power Chart Maternity EHR system

Team & Support

• Charge Nurse and House Supervisor present
• OB Techs and front desk scheduler available on unit
• OB/Neonatologist on call 24/7, usually present most of the time
• Respiratory Therapy equipment available: CPAP; vents started and patient transported out
• RNs responsible for reading EFM tracings (Fetalink system)

Additional Information

• Radius rule: Candidates must live within 50 miles and may not have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN with any related facilities within the past year
• Hospital-laundered scrubs provided

Required Qualifications Summary

• Registered Nurse license in good standing
• Minimum experience consistent with Labor and Delivery specialty (implied by skills and certifications)
• Current BLS and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification
• Ability to perform required clinical skills and pass sterile technique testing on orientation day

This position is suitable for experienced Labor and Delivery nurses comfortable with Level II maternity care and working in a fast-paced L&D environment.
