Registered Nurse (Labor & Delivery) - Medford, Oregon
Job Details
- Specialty: Labor & Delivery (L&D)
- Location: Medford, Oregon
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Days
- Hours: 12 hours per day, approximately 36 hours per week
- Orientation: 12 hours of non-billable orientation during the first work week; includes 2 days nursing orientation, 2 days Epic training, 1 week unit orientation, and 1 day per sister unit (FNB, Pediatrics, NICU) as needed.
Unit Overview
- Care for high-risk labor and antepartum patients, including those with epidurals, insulin drips, IV magnesium, and preterm labor.
- Duties include circulating in the OR and baby nurse at delivery.
- Float assignments to Women & Children’s units such as NICU, Pediatrics, and Postpartum (FNB) with lower acuity patients.
- Nurse-to-patient ratios follow AWHONN standards: typically 1 laboring patient per nurse and 2-3 antepartum patients per nurse.
- Support staff includes OB hospitalists available 24/7, break nurses, resource nurses, and OB scrub techs.
- Dress code: hospital scrubs for L&D, personal scrubs for postpartum.
Required Skills & Experience
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon.
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Current certifications in ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring or equivalent.
Certifications & Licenses
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (Oregon or eligible for 90-day temporary license if permanent license is pending).
- BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Certification.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification.
- AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Certification or equivalent.
Technology & Equipment
- Use of Epic electronic health records system.
- Omnicell medication dispensing system.
Additional Information
- Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted.
- The client may cancel the assignment up to 24 hours before the start date during the 13-week contract.
- Guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation.
