Description
Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery
Location: Prescott Valley, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Schedule: 4-week schedules with 1 full weekend every 3 weeks and 1 major plus 1 minor holiday required
On Call: 18 hours per 4-week schedule
Unit Details
- Labor & Delivery unit with 16 LDRP beds and 6 triage rooms
- 2 OB operating rooms available
- Approximately 1000 births per year
- Level II maternity care (patients down to 32 weeks gestational age)
- Nurse-to-patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines
- Charge nurse and house supervisor roles present
- OB techs and front desk schedulers support the unit
- OB/Neonatologist on call 24/7, usually present most of the time
- Respiratory equipment includes CPAP; vents started and patients transported out
- RNs interpret electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) tracings using Fetalink system
- Hospital provides laundered scrubs
Required Certifications & Skills
- Current BLS (AHA) certification
- Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification (EFM) required; AWHONN preferred but not mandatory
- Must pass a sterile technique test on first day of orientation (includes Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes)
- Experience with EFM interpretation, sterile vaginal exams (SVEs), IV starts, and managing Magnesium Sulfate
- Ability to titrate drips, including Pitocin
Orientation & Systems
- Unit-specific orientation provided
- Use Cerner Power Chart Maternity electronic health record system
Additional Requirements
- Candidates must not have been employed full time, part time, or PRN within the past year at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI or Dignity
- Radius rule: must live within 50 miles of the facility
