Description

Hemodialysis Registered Nurse

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 06:00 AM – 09:30 PM


Job Description

  • Provide hemodialysis treatments to pediatric and adult patients in a hospital-based dialysis unit, including inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Treatments may be performed in the dialysis unit or at the patient’s bedside.
  • Collaborate closely with dialysis technicians to ensure safe and efficient dialysis care.
  • Deliver age-specific nursing care using the nursing process to help patients attain and maintain optimal health.
  • Demonstrate technical skills to ensure safe practice and positive patient outcomes.
  • Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively to optimize patient care and clinical operations.
  • On-call availability is required.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.
  • Minimum of 1 year of dialysis experience, with dialysis experience within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Onboarding and Compliance Requirements

  • Primary Source Verification of RN license and Nursys report within 30 days prior to start; must be updated every 2 years with license renewal.
  • Background checks including:
    • Ohio fingerprints and criminal background checks (BCI&I and FBI as applicable).
    • National criminal background check including sex offender registry within 6 months prior to start.
    • OIG exclusion check within 6 months prior to start.
    • OFAC & SAM clearance within 6 months prior to start.
  • Drug screen within 60 days prior to start (10-panel, lab report required; instant screens not accepted).
  • Verification of education and employment within the last 5 years through third-party sources (attestations not allowed).
  • Completion of skills checklist within 1 year prior to start (clinical skills specific to dialysis).
  • Competency exam and core competencies completed within 1 year prior to start with minimum 80% passing score.
  • Completion of required safety and compliance training modules prior to clearance; renewal annually.
  • Submission packet including resume, 2 professional references (within last 2 years), job application, and employment history form.
  • Badge photo (headshot, shoulders up, plain background, JPEG format).

Additional Information

  • COVID-19 vaccination preferred but not required; medical or religious exemptions accepted with approval.
  • Positive PPD requires clear chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire (chest X-rays valid for 5 years).
  • Annual renewal of fit test, drug screen, and safety/compliance training required.

This position requires a dedicated RN with dialysis experience who can provide comprehensive care in a hospital dialysis setting, maintain compliance with rigorous credentialing and health requirements, and be available for on-call duties.
