Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical/Surgical
Location: Panama City, Florida
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Shift: 06:45 AM – 7:15 PM (12.5 hours)
Unit: Medical/Surgical
EMR System: Cerner
Schedule Notes: Every other weekend and any holiday that falls on a regularly scheduled shift
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Florida
- Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical and Telemetry experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current Driver’s License
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Immunizations and Health Screenings:
- MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or verified history (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza Vaccine: Optional; if declined during flu season, mask required
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Tuberculosis Screening:
- 2-Step PPD or Negative IGRA within 90 days of start
- If positive, negative chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire required
- Fit Test: Required for all travelers; preferred before start, can be completed onsite
- Health Statement: Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
- Drug Screening: 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
Onboarding and Testing Requirements
- Completion of core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics with minimum 80% passing score (max 2 attempts)
- Ascension EKG Exam with minimum 80% passing score (max 2 attempts), updated every 3 years
- Cerner test-out and training checklist with signed attestation required
- Completion of onboarding education attestation and nursing contract worker onboarding modules
- Ascension Nova StatStrip pre-hire modules for non-allied positions
- Badge photo: Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations
- Skills checklist for specialty to be completed within one year of start and updated annually
- Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start
Additional Notes
- Ascension Unit Specific Checklist is optional for onboarding but must be uploaded by unit leader within one week if completed
- Signed assignment agreement required for onboarding (offer letter, initial confirmation, and extensions)
- Confirmation of assignment and employment verification required upon initial assignment and updates for extensions
- Hiring manager evaluation and name change documentation are optional
This position requires a dedicated RN with Medical/Surgical experience, compliance with extensive credentialing and health requirements, and the ability to work a long-term assignment with a consistent 12.5-hour day shift schedule.
