Registered Respiratory Therapist - Waco, Texas

Job Details

  • Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Management of HFNC (High Flow Nasal Cannula)
    • BIPAP (Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure)
    • Ventilator management
    • Tracheostomies
    • Chest Physiotherapy (CPT)
    • Vest therapy
    • Bronchoscopy assistance
    • Use of Metaneb device

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Texas
  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) issued by American Heart Association
  • Current Driver's License

Onboarding and Compliance Requirements

  • Health and Immunizations:
    • MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted.
    • Varicella: Proof of immunity or two vaccines; no declinations accepted.
    • Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
    • Hepatitis B: Completion of vaccination series or signed declination.
    • Influenza Vaccine: Optional; exemptions accepted with mask requirement during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31).
    • TB Screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes; if positive, chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire required.
    • Fit Test: Required annually; preferred before start, can be completed onsite.
    • Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to assignment, updated annually.
    • Drug Screen: 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually.
  • Professional Documentation:
    • Resume/Profile submission required.
    • Two professional references required prior to first assignment.
    • Driver’s License/State ID current and matching address on file.
    • Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start.
    • Employment verification for past 7 years.
    • Criminal background check including SSN trace, OIG search, and National Sex Offender registry within 90 days of start.
    • EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days of start.
  • Competency and Skills:
    • Specialty exam with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years.
    • Core competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc.) with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years.
    • Skills checklist completed within one year of start and updated annually.
  • Onboarding Attestation: Respiratory Therapy Contract Worker Onboarding Education Attestation must be uploaded by agency after completion of pre-hire education (6 hours).

  • Flu season mask policy applies if influenza vaccine is declined.
  • Some onboarding forms and attestations are completed onsite.
  • Badge photo (optional): forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no filters or alterations.
