Registered Nurse (RN) - Surgery

Location

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Work Schedule

  • Days: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
  • 5 days per week, 8 hours per day
  • Weekend, on-call, and floating requirements apply

Job Summary

  • Coordinate and implement patient care tailored to the patient population on assigned units.
  • Ensure quality, efficient, and safe care consistent with unit standards.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, respect, and effective communication with staff, physicians, patients, and families.
  • Participate in patient education, discharge planning, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments, prioritizing care based on patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care.
  • Make comprehensive nursing decisions and modify care plans as needed.
  • Conduct Point of Care testing procedures.
  • Delegate and coordinate unit work assignments to ensure completion of patient care support activities.
  • Participate in orientation of new staff and students.
  • Promote a positive work environment and contribute to unit and organizational goals.
  • Maintain high levels of patient/customer satisfaction and confidentiality.
  • Adapt to changes in work environment or schedule with flexibility.
  • Comply with all hospital policies, including safety and attendance.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New Mexico
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Certification
