Description
Job Opportunity: Dialysis Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Decatur, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Dialysis Registered Nurse
- Shift: Day shift, 4x10-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
- On-Call: Yes, 2-3 overnight calls per rotation; every third Saturday on call until Monday 7:00 AM with 1-hour response time for emergent cases only
- Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
- Average Daily Census: 3-6 patients in a 2-room, 4-bed unit
- Float: No floating outside scope of practice
- Schedule Flexibility: Block schedule requests can be discussed with manager
- Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
- Response to Offer (RTO) Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of dialysis experience within the last year in an inpatient acute care setting
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- Ability to cannulate AV grafts and AV fistulas
- Tunneled and non-tunneled catheter cannulation skills
- Administration of blood and blood products during treatment
- Administration of Mannitol, Albumin, and 23.4% NaCl
- Management of blood flow rates (Qb) and dialysate flow rate (Qd)
- Troubleshooting peritoneal catheter malfunctions

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks: Comprehensive background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender, and federal exclusion lists
- State-Specific Checks: Illinois Department of Corrections, Most Wanted, and Violent Offender registries within 30 days of start
- Fingerprinting: Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry fingerprinting required within Illinois 3 business days prior to start (not required for non-clinical or remote candidates)
- Education Verification: Initial degree verification required
- Competency Exam: Required for all clinical candidates
- Photo for Badge: Color photo from mid-shoulders up on plain background, due before start
- Code of Conduct: Must review and sign within 7 days of contract signing
- Flu Vaccine: Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 30
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by appropriate healthcare provider, confirming good health and ability to perform job functions
- Fit Mask Test: Required for new contracts, acceptable masks include 3M1860, 1870, or 1870+; PAPR users exempt
- TB Testing: 2-step PPD, TSPOT, or Qgold within 1 year of start; positive TB requires chest X-ray and documentation
- Immunizations: Documentation of immunity or vaccination (or signed declination) for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Drug Screening: 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; negative dilute results require retest
- References: Two professional references required for clinical travel candidates
- Skills Checklist: Required for clinical candidates
Additional Notes
- Guaranteed Hours: Client may cancel up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay; on-call shifts count as called-off shifts
- First-Time Travelers: Accepted
- Cerner Experience: Preferred but not mandatory
- No floating outside scope of practice
