Description
Cardiac Sonographer
Location: Concord, Massachusetts
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 8-hour days (7:00 am - 3:30 pm), 7 days a week
- Rotating weekends every third weekend
- Holidays required
- No on-call
Job Summary
Perform a wide variety of diagnostic cardiographic testing on patients under the direction of physicians, including operating ultrasound equipment and assisting with specialized echo studies.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate ultrasound equipment to perform and interpret M-Mode, 2D, Color Doppler, Pulsed and Continuous Wave Doppler, Stress Echo, Stress Doppler ultrasound, and Trans-esophageal echocardiograms (TEE).
- Conduct non-invasive examinations using phono-apexcardiograms, imaging duplex, and ultrasound equipment.
- Analyze patient clinical history to tailor examinations to clinical questions.
- Position patients and operate equipment to obtain reliable diagnostic data.
- Evaluate and analyze recordings during procedures.
- Explain procedures to patients.
- Perform EKGs, stress tests, and Holter monitoring.
- Assist Cardiologists with TEE and Dobutamine echo examinations.
- Process, distribute, and ensure timely billing of reports.
- Maintain quality standards for testing and equipment.
- Uphold patient rights to care, privacy, and respect.
Required Qualifications
- Current registration as RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) or RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer).
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Completion of a Certified Ultrasound program, specifically a Cardiac Sonography certificate accredited by CAAHEP or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience performing and interpreting 2D, M-Mode, and Doppler echocardiograms.
- Prior travel experience required.
Work Environment
- 40 hours per week
- Day shift, Monday through Sunday coverage
- Rotating weekends and holiday work required
