Description
Registered Nurse (RN) – CVICU
Location: Medford, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, approximately 36 hours per week
Unit Size: 20 beds
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:1 and 1:2
Unit Overview
- Care for post open heart surgery and cardiac medical patients
- Management of ventilated and tracheostomy patients, including trach care
- Experience with post heart catheterization recovery and post-op day 1 open heart surgery patients
- Use of Epic electronic charting system, Omnicell medication administration, B. Braun IV pumps, Avea ventilators, Edwards and Phillips patient monitoring systems
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Oregon
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of CVICU nursing experience within the last year
- Experience with long-term ventilated patients
- Experience with Swan-Ganz catheters
- Experience with vasoactive medication titration
- Experience with post heart catheterization recovery and patient management
- Experience managing post-op day 1 open heart surgery patients
- BLS and ACLS certifications
Schedule & Work Conditions
- 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend (may require consecutive weekends to accommodate time off)
- No scheduled call required; may be placed on mandatory standby due to low census during scheduled shifts
- Floating required: ICU, IMCU, ED first; then Medical Surgical, telemetry, post-surgical, ortho neuro units
- Travelers float prior to regular staff and may serve as resource nurses with reduced assignments on med-surg floors
Orientation & Training
- 12 hours of non-billable orientation specific to CVICU during the first work week
- Guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation
Additional Notes
- Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted
- Dress code: Standard scrubs in any color; no visible tattoos on neck or above; facial jewelry limited to earrings and a small discreet nose stud (max 1.5 mm)
