Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical (Travel/Contract)

Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks (with possible extension)
Shift: Night (4x12 hours, 19:00-07:30)
Schedule: 3 shifts per 4-week period, includes weekdays and weekends
Unit: 34-bed Medical/Surgical unit with telemetry
Patient Ratio: 1:5-7
EMR System: Cerner

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia
• Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Job Details & Expectations

• Must adhere to attendance policy: only 2-3 call-offs tolerated per contract
• Scrubs are not provided
• Work within a 75-mile radius of the facility
• Must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service
• Must complete all required facility-specific training and competency exams prior to start
• Completion of Cerner EMR training modules required before start date
• ReadySet (RS) health assessment surveys must be completed by facility deadlines
• Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands required, updated annually

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Proof of 2 clinical references within the past 2 years
• RN license verification (recently pulled within 2 days of submission)
• Candidate profile including work history and specialty-specific skills checklist (updated annually)
• Background checks including:

  • 7-year criminal history check (all locations lived/worked)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (updated every contract renewal)
• Drug screening: 10-panel within 30 days of start, updated annually
• Immunizations and health screenings:

  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD within 1 year or equivalent)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years, preferred)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella titers or vaccinations (within 2 years or signed declination)
  • Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (mandatory during flu season)
  • COVID vaccine or declination required
• Completion of facility-specific forms including:

  • Background drug screen consent
  • Non-disclosure of confidential information
  • Parking pass application
  • Badge photo per facility instructions
• Completion of Care Learning Modules and Cerner training prior to start
• Competency exams and color blindness testing as applicable

Additional Notes

• This is a night shift position on a medical-surgical telemetry unit
• The facility expects high attendance reliability
• Candidates must be prepared to submit a complete packet including all certifications and verifications before starting
• No prior travel experience is required for this assignment
