Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Transplant IMC

Shift Details

  • Day shift
  • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (07:00 - 19:30)
  • Total 36 hours per week

Unit and Patient Population

  • Intermediate Care Unit (IMC) specializing in vascular transplant
  • Patient age range: Adults to Geriatrics
  • Patient diagnoses include post-operative care for vascular, kidney, and liver transplant patients

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide post-operative care for transplant patients
  • Perform hemodynamic and neurovascular assessments
  • Monitor surgical sites for bleeding or infection
  • Evaluate graft function
  • Monitor labs, urine output, fluids, and electrolytes
  • Administer pain control, immunosuppressants, anticoagulation, and IV therapies
  • Identify complications such as thrombosis, graft dysfunction, and rejection

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
  • Minimum 2 years of Intermediate Care experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Transplant experience required
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association

Schedule Requirements

  • Holidays: Required as scheduled
  • Weekends: Every third weekend required
  • Floating: Required within specialty and to other units/facilities within scope
  • On Call: Not required

Uniform

  • Navy blue scrubs (pink for trauma assignments)
  • Pediatric department: navy blue scrub pants with child-friendly tops in navy blue
  • Undershirts: white if short sleeve, navy (or pink if trauma) if long sleeve
  • Business casual allowed in certain departments (no jeans, no open-toe shoes, no sleeveless tops, no shorts)

Required Documentation and Compliance

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol, updated annually
  • Immunizations or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption for the current season
  • Negative drug screen (9 or 10 panel plus fentanyl) within 30 days prior to start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and state-specific exclusions
  • Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
  • Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
  • Verification of previous 5 years of employment history
  • Facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreements, badge photo, dress code review, and job description acknowledgment

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must sign all required facility-specific agreements prior to start
  • Portfolio Epic training test-out available for eligible candidates
  • Competency exams required as applicable (medication, age-specific, dysrhythmia/EKG)
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training required as applicable
  • Color blind testing required for clinical staff (not annually)
  • TB questionnaire required if positive TB history
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine required for units working with children (not applicable here)
