Job Opportunity: RN Labor and Delivery

Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in a high-volume Labor and Delivery/Perinatal setting.
  • Must have experience in Labor and Delivery/Perinatal care with exposure to high-volume delivery services.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, with experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Emergency Pediatric Life Support (EPLS) certification
  • Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of Perinatal clinical experience in a high-volume delivery service.
  • S.T.A.B.L.E Program certification.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.

Onboarding and Compliance Requirements

  • Professional and license verifications including Nursys and primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start.
  • Submission of a current, unexpired Driver’s License or State ID matching address requirements.
  • Completion of specialty competency exams and skills checklists with minimum passing scores.
  • Health and immunization documentation including:
    • MMR (two vaccines or positive titer, no declinations accepted)
    • Varicella (two vaccines, serological evidence, or history verified by provider, no declinations accepted)
    • Tdap (valid within 10 years, no declinations accepted)
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
    • Influenza vaccine (optional, with mask requirement if declined during flu season)
    • Tuberculosis screening (2-step PPD or IGRA, chest X-ray if positive, annual TB questionnaire)
    • Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred before start, can be completed onsite)
  • Drug screening: 12-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
  • Background checks including criminal history, social security trace, and national sex offender registry within 90 days prior to start.
  • Completion of required onboarding education and attestations related to nursing contingent workers.
  • Completion of Cerner electronic health record test and training checklist prior to assignment.
  • Annual updates required for many certifications, health screenings, and competencies.

Additional Notes

  • Must pass all required competency exams with a minimum score of 80%. Only two attempts allowed.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
  • Contract length is approximately 13 weeks.

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs seeking a long-term assignment in a busy perinatal environment with comprehensive support and credentialing requirements.
