Respiratory Therapist - West Virginia

Job Details

• Location: Petersburg, West Virginia
• Contract Length: 12 weeks
• Shift: Primarily day shift (12-hour shifts, 5:45 AM - 6:15 PM), occasional other shifts as needed
• Hours: 36 hours per week (3 shifts)
• Work Setting: Inpatient, outpatient, and Emergency Department (ED)
• Patient Population: Mostly adults; occasional pediatric and neonatal patients in ED and Labor & Delivery
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: As needed to fill staffing gaps
• Call: No charge RT or lead RT; manager available 24/7 for on-call support

Job Responsibilities

• Manage ventilators and provide ventilatory support
• Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) draws and analysis
• Administer CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula, nebulizers, MDIs, and airway clearance techniques (Flutter)
• Set up nocturnal pulse oximetry and blood gases in outpatient setting
• Assist with intubations (not required to intubate independently)
• Float between inpatient, outpatient, and ED areas; ER assignment results in lighter patient load
• Use respiratory equipment including Hamilton Medical C1 & C3 ventilators, Masimo SoftFlow High Flows, Masimo Pulse Oximeters, GEM5000 ABG analyzer, and ResMed bedside CPAP/BiPAP

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in West Virginia
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification

Orientation & Support

• Department-specific orientation lasting 2-3 days
• Respiratory manager available 24/7 for support, no lead or charge RT on shift
• Collaborative team environment with shared responsibilities

Additional Information

• No specific scrub color or dress code required
• Hospitalist or intensivist coverage in-house during the day and on call at night
• Potential future cross-training opportunities in Sleep Lab and Pulmonary/Cardiac Rehab
