Description
Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM)
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Unit & Job Details
- Service lines include Bariatrics, Urology, Neurology, ENT, Oral, Plastics, Transplant, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, GYN, and Orthopedics.
- Floating within facility scope of practice and to outpatient areas as needed.
- Weekend and call schedules are variable and will be discussed during the interview.
- No holiday time off (RTO) approved during blackout dates: 11/23–11/29 and 12/21–1/3.
- Maximum 7 days of RTO allowed during contract.
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate.
Required Experience
- Minimum 4 years of Operating Room experience prior to travel.
- Must have experience in Neurology, Transplant, General Surgery, GYN, and Orthopedics.
- Minimum 3 years of overall experience on the unit.
- First-time travelers are not accepted.
- Prior travel experience is required (implied by "unit does not accept first time travelers").
Required Qualifications & Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia.
- Minimum 4 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year.
- Completion of at least one travel assignment.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience in Neurology, Transplant, OB/GYN, and Orthopedics.
Compliance & Screening
- Full compliance with all credentialing and onboarding requirements is mandatory to start on time; delays in compliance may result in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedules.
- Clinical screening will be conducted to determine clinical fit before final manager approval.
- Background check required within 30 days of start, including education verification and criminal history checks.
- Physical exam required within 12 months of start (agency requirement).
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start; instant drug screen acceptable.
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months of start; if previously positive, additional documentation and chest x-ray required. TB questionnaire required annually.
- Immunizations required or documented proof of immunity:
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, and Rubella.
- 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer.
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination.
- TDAP highly recommended but not required; declination form available if needed.
- Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Mar 31).
Additional Requirements
- Skills checklist updated within the last 12 months.
- Verification of most recent work history required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process.
- Two clinical references required by agency.
- Candidate must review and sign facility-specific Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start.
Notes
- Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment).
- Floating assignments may include outpatient areas within scope of practice.
- Clinical remediation is not allowed for competency exams, but agency-provided remediation is permitted.
- Candidates unable to pass required competency exams after three attempts will be cancelled.
This position is ideal for experienced Operating Room RNs with diverse surgical experience and prior travel assignments, seeking a 16-week travel contract in Atlanta, Georgia.
