Description
Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Charleston, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), weekdays, every other weekend
- Schedule: Must float to Mother Baby unit as needed; option for 4x12 shifts available for full-time hours (40 hours/week)
- Unit Description:
- Low-risk and high-risk obstetrics care
- 14 Labor & Delivery beds, 6 triage beds, 2 operating rooms, 2 recovery beds, 2 high-risk antepartum beds
- Regional tertiary care unit supporting local obstetric needs and receiving patients from outlying hospitals
- Collaborative care with midwives and physicians for a range of childbirth experiences from minimal intervention to major complications
- Required Skills:
- Circulating experience in the OR setting
- Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)
- IV start
- Triage and scrub skills are a plus
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Valid Driver’s License
- Experience with Cerner electronic health record system
Additional Notes
- Local candidates within 100-mile radius considered; exceptions for 75-99 miles on a case-by-case basis
- First-time travelers accepted depending on years of experience
- Flu vaccine refusal without medical proof is not accepted during flu season
- Candidates must complete all required in-service training modules prior to start (approx. 4 hours)
- Returning permanent employees cannot work as travelers at this facility for 2 years after last permanent day worked
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs comfortable with night shifts, floating between L&D and Mother Baby units, and working in a high-acuity obstetric environment.
