Registered Nurse - MedSurg/Telemetry

Location: Goldsboro, North Carolina

Job Summary

Provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards in a hospital setting. Responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process, primarily caring for intermediate/step-down patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver care to patients with complex medical problems, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
• Perform bedside point of care testing as required.
• Assess patient readiness to learn and use appropriate patient education materials.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to evaluate and plan patient care.
• Organize and prioritize care based on patient and family needs.
• Anticipate and plan for patient discharge needs.
• Participate in unit goals, performance improvement, and cost-effective care initiatives.
• Promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
• Communicate effectively within the healthcare team and provide feedback to coworkers.
• Recognize and address cultural and ethnic considerations in patient care.
• Apply research findings to clinical practice.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of current Intermediate/Step Down nursing experience
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience totaling at least 2 years, including experience within the last year
• Intermediate Care experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited school of nursing

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN or MSN from an accredited school of nursing.

Additional Information

• Position is part of a Float Pool.
• Candidates must be comfortable working with intermediate care patients.
