Description

Registered Nurse – PCU Nights

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – Night shift
  • Shift Hours: 18:30 to 07:00 (4 shifts of 12 hours each)
  • Option to work 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
  • Weekend Requirement: As needed, rotating schedule
  • Float Requirement: Yes
  • On Call: None
  • Block Scheduling: Case by case
  • Unit Size: 55 beds
  • Cardiovascular experience required
  • Scrub Color: Any (no logo)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience working in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting

Experience Requirements

  • Specialty Experience: Minimum 1 year preferred in nursing with recent cardiovascular PCU experience
  • Prior travel experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID
  • E-Verify compliance (for direct hires)
  • Background checks including:
    • 7-year background check within 1 year of start (includes SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender, education verification)
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks upon hire
    • Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (New Mexico placements only)
  • Education verification (highest level of education must be verified)
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters required if negative/equivocal)
    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
    • Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history of chickenpox
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
  • Photo for badge (clear headshot)
  • Signed fingerprint consent form (New Mexico only)
  • Employee vehicle registration form

Additional Requirements

  • Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
  • 7-year work history verification required
  • Complete application/resume required

Notes

  • Block scheduling and weekend requirements are flexible and based on unit needs
  • Orientation and EPIC training can be attended pending fingerprint clearance, but no patient care until clearance is received
  • Flu vaccine declinations are not accepted; medical exemptions must be approved by provider and client
  • Candidates must meet all competency and certification requirements prior to start

This position offers an opportunity to work nights in a cardiovascular-focused PCU with a supportive nurse-to-patient ratio and flexible scheduling options.
