Registered Nurse (ICU) - Travel Assignment

Location: San Antonio, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (rotating weekends)
Hours per Week: 36 hours

Unit and Work Environment

• Unit: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with 14 beds; also includes 20 Med/Surg beds
• Patient Ratios: 1:2 in ICU, 1:5 in Med/Surg
• Staffing: 1 Patient Care Assistant (PCA), 1 Unit Coordinator (UC)
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Floating: Required as needed (all travelers must comply with floating policy)
• Call Requirements: None
• Attendance: Reliable attendance is critical; candidates with attendance issues will not be considered
• Dress Code:

  • Navy scrub top and pants; navy or white scrub jacket
  • Clean, healthy nails; neat and clean hair with no extreme styles or colors
  • Facial hair must be clean and neatly trimmed
  • Body art should be covered when possible; visible piercings other than ears are prohibited

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas (temporary licenses not accepted)
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Certifications:

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)
• Skills:

  • Experience with vasopressor management
  • Meditech experience preferred (not required)

Procedures and Skills

• Critical care procedures performed regularly on the unit
