Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Oregon City, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery
- Shift: Night shift, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Hours per Week: 48 hours
- Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care
- Total Beds: 109
- Charting System: Epic
- Scrub Color: Any color allowed; specific colors provided for OR, Critical Care, ED, Maternal Child units
- Parking: No fee
Job Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon
- Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Postpartum nursing experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – AWHONN or NCC-EFM certification acceptable; must verify with clinical leadership if NCC-EFM is accepted in lieu of AWHONN
- IV Certification (as applicable)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) and Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certifications as required by clinical track
- Chemotherapy certification if applicable (verify with clinical track)
- NIH Stroke Certification if required by clinical track
Licensure
- Must hold an active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Oregon
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs
- Multi-state licensed nurses working with an out-of-state compact license in Washington must complete WA Multi State Licensed Demographic Attestation prior to starting
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation
- Fit Mask test required for travel nurses starting on or after 2/5/2024; must be updated annually
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years; declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; declination accepted
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination (special rules for Alaska placements)
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer; declination accepted
- Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations not required but unvaccinated must follow infection prevention policies
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable); Per Diem candidates have additional requirements
- Respiratory Safety Clearance required annually for travel nurses starting on or after 2/5/2024
Background and Verification
- Background check within 90 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
- Education verification required for nursing degree; international education requires diploma/transcript or CES report
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years of employment (7 years for APN/Subcontractors)
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years
- Work history verification required if exceptions to reference requirements are requested
- State-specific background checks and searches as applicable (Oregon, Washington, Alaska)
Competency Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
- Competency exams required by specialty; for Labor and Delivery RNs, EFM training required either by certification or assessment exam
- Color Blind Testing may be required on a unit basis
Additional Information
- Orientation: Reduced Non-Billable Orientation (0 hours vs. standard 40 hours)
- Float Policy: Acknowledgement required; may float to other facilities within reasonable distance
- Badge photo required (passport style with neutral background)
- Annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules required via LMS (Workramp)
- Epic training modules required and must be completed within a week of orientation
This position is ideal for a Labor and Delivery RN with at least 1 year of experience, comfortable working night shifts, and willing to float between units as needed. The role requires multiple certifications and compliance with comprehensive health, background, and competency requirements.
