NICU Registered Nurse

Contract Length

Schedule

• Night shift
• 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week
• 3 shifts per week
• 4-week schedules
• Weekend work may be every weekend
• Holiday coverage may be required depending on scheduling needs
• Call or standby may be required if not needed on the unit

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Washington
• NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care (2 years of experience)
• NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care experience within the last year
• NRP
• BLS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Unit Details

• Level II NICU
• 20 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios vary from 1:1 to 1:3 depending on acuity and staffing
• Neonatologist in house 24/7
• No nurse aides on the unit
• Nurses read telemetry strips

Clinical Experience Needed

• Ability to care for gestations down to 32 weeks or infants greater than 1500 grams
• Experience with NC, HFNC, CPAP, NAVA, conventional ventilator equipment, and feeding pumps
• Experience titrating drips, including BP drugs, TPN/D10, and insulin

Patient Population

• Extremely premature and premature patients
• BPD
• HIE
• Feeding intolerance
• Respiratory support needs
• Sepsis/meningitis
• NOWS/ESC
• Hyperbilirubinemia

Floating

• May float to pediatrics to care for NICU graduates
• May care for patients up to 12 months of age
• May be assigned as a 1:1 sitter for a behavioral health patient postpartum to help with well baby care

Orientation

• 1 to 2 shifts

Dress Code

• Royal blue scrubs
