RN - L&D

Job Overview

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Louisiana
  • Labor and Delivery (1 year of experience)
  • Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • NRP
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Ability to interpret fetal heart rate strips
  • Proficiency in performing vaginal examinations
  • Experience as an OB circulator

Key Skills / Experience

  • Proficient in starting IVs and drawing labs
  • Able to interpret fetal strips
  • Proficient in vaginal exams
  • OB circulator experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to scrub

Unit Details

  • Labor & Delivery unit with 2 triage rooms, 10 labor rooms, and 2 ORs
  • Typical patient ratio: 1:1 to 2:1 depending on acuity
  • Common procedures include vaginal deliveries, C-sections, amniocentesis, amnioinfusions, and IUPC/FSE placement

Schedule / Call

  • Rotates every other weekend
  • Possible circulator call

Floating

  • Closed unit
  • May float to postpartum as C/L

Work Environment

  • Best fit is organized, empathetic, caring, and compassionate
  • Teal scrubs for nursing staff
