Night Med Surg RN

Location

• Lincoln, Nebraska

Contract

• 13 weeks
• 36 hours per week
• 12-hour night shifts

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• BLS certification
• 1 year of unit experience
• Driver’s license required at submittal

Unit Details

• Med Surg unit
• 42 beds
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5-6
• Common patient types: medical, surgical, and orthopedics
• Charge nurse is present on each shift and takes an assignment
• Telemetry is present on the floor with a centralized tele station
• Respiratory therapy is available 24 hours on the floor
• Nursing assistants/patient care techs are on the unit

Schedule and Coverage

• Weekend and holiday coverage as needed
• No call or standby requirement

Floating

• May float to PCU or Burn

Orientation

• First week in classroom, then 2 to 12-hour shifts on the floor

Additional Notes

• Radius rule: candidates must live more than 50 miles away
• Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and Dignity
• Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
• Unit requires an open-book pass/fail orientation exam with a 90% passing score
