Cardiac Surgery RN First Assistant

Job Overview

• Location: Cleveland, Ohio
• Employment type: LTA
• Shift: 07:00 - 15:30
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Role focus: Assists in cardiac surgical cases, including exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions; also supports preoperative and postoperative care.
• Call: Regional call coverage for the cardiac surgery program across the system.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• CVOR First Assist experience within the last year
• 1 year of CVOR First Assist experience
• Certified First Assistant (CFA)
• CNOR
• ACLS issued by the American Heart Association
• Driver's License
• License/certification verification required for onboarding.
• Non-expired photo ID
• Submission packet including resume, 2 professional references from the last 2 years, job application, and employment history form.

Onboarding / Compliance Requirements

• 2-step TB test or IGRA with negative results within the last 6 months; annual requirement.
• Drug screen within 60 days of start.
• Criminal background check within 6 months of start.
• OIG search within 6 months prior to start.
• SAM/EPLS/GSA/OFAC screening within 6 months prior to start.
• Safety and compliance training modules must be completed before clearance.
• Badge photo required.
• Influenza vaccine documentation may be required seasonally, with declination or medical accommodation forms if applicable.

Experience / Work Setting Notes

• Primarily second assists in cardiac surgical cases.
• Works under the direction and supervision of the attending physician.
