Med Surg Ortho RN
Location
- Council Bluffs, Iowa

Schedule
- 12-hour shifts
- Nights
- 36 hours per week
- Self-scheduling
- Every third weekend
Assignment Length
- 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Iowa or compact RN license
- BLS certification
- 1 year of unit experience
Unit Details
- Adult med-surg/ortho unit
- Patient mix includes total joints, shoulder replacements, COPD, diabetes, wounds, IV infusions, dementia, oncology, fractures, sepsis, pneumonia, CHF, and substance use-related diagnoses
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5
- Charge nurse is present each shift
- Patient care techs are available at a 1:10 ratio
- Unit has monitors at the main nurses station
Floating
- May float to PCU and behavioral health
Orientation
- First week is classroom orientation, followed by one 12-hour shift on the unit
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be flexible and self-directed
- Artificial nails are not allowed in patient care areas
- Driver’s license is required at submittal for radius verification
- RTO must be submitted upfront and additional RTO will not be approved
