Oncology RN Travel Contract

Overview

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse
  • Location: Columbus, Ohio
  • Employment type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract length: 16 weeks
  • Shift: Night, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
  • Hours per week: 36

Unit Details

  • Adult and geriatric patient population
  • Primary focus is newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients
  • High-volume medical unit with frequent blood products, IV antibiotics, and electrolyte management
  • Staffing goal is 1:4, with assignments up to 1:5
  • Weekends vary based on unit needs
  • Self-scheduling requests are accepted, but there is no set or blocked schedule
  • Orientation includes one week of weekday day shifts followed by 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor
  • First-time travelers are not accepted

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Oncology experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS
  • ONS Chemo Cert
  • Master of Science in Nursing
  • Experience in an inpatient setting
  • MS/Tele
  • Use of Rapid Response Teams
  • Central line blood draw
  • PICC line management
  • Experience with Epic

Preferred Qualifications

  • NIHSS

  • Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
  • Rapid Response Team use
  • Feeding tube care and management
  • IV therapy and phlebotomy

Additional Notes

  • Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols
  • Patient falls prevention is a key focus
