Schedule
- Nights
- 12-hour shifts
- 36–48 hours per week
- Day and night coverage are needed
- Travelers will be scheduled, with limited block scheduling available
- Typically every other weekend
- 2–3 holidays from Thanksgiving to New Year’s
- Floating required to other medical-surgical areas or units with MedSurg patients waiting for a bed
Required Qualifications
- BLS certification
- Driver’s license required at submittal
- Must be outside the 50-mile radius
- Cannot be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity
- Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
- Must pass an open-book orientation exam with a score of 90% or higher
- RNs should have some telemetry awareness
Experience / Unit Details
- Med-surg/telemetry unit
- 55 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5–6
- Patient population includes joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbation, prostatectomy, cellulitis, sepsis, ortho trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and failure to thrive
- RN responsibilities include titrating heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine drips
- PCA pumps are used
- Charge nurse is present on each shift
- Patient care techs are present, with a ratio of 1:10–20
- Tele techs interpret strips
- 2 days of unit-specific orientation
- Navy blue scrubs required

- Mechanical lifts are available in every other room
- Strong emphasis on hourly rounding and responsiveness
- The unit handles multiple admissions and discharges in a day
- Successful candidates are expected to be team-oriented, compassionate, and adaptable
- RTO must be submitted upfront; no additional RTO will be approved after submission
