Overview

This role provides direct inpatient nursing care across the lifespan, including post-surgical and behavioral health patients. The nurse is responsible for assessment, care planning, implementation, evaluation, and ongoing reassessment every 24 hours.

Required Qualifications

• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Valid RN license in Alaska
• BLS
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• 3 years of Med Surg experience
• Experience working with Pediatric patients
• Experience working with Adult patients
• Pediatrics experience

Preferred Experience

• Pediatrics experience
• Adult experience

Key Skills and Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care using the nursing process
• Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals
• Provide patient, family, and significant other education
• Administer treatments and medications
• Interpret diagnostic tests
• Use therapeutic communication with behavioral health patients
• Work flexibly within prescribed limits
• Document care and follow guidelines and procedures

Additional Notes

• Must be able to care for patients from birth to elderly
• Uses office and medical equipment as appropriate for the role
• Supervisory responsibilities include unit secretaries and PCTs in collaboration with the Charge Nurse
