Description

RN (Registered Nurse)

Location

  • Princeton, West Virginia

Assignment Length

  • 13 weeks

Schedule

  • 12-hour night shifts
  • Every other weekend
  • Holiday coverage: either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day
  • Call requirement: 3–4 call shifts in a 6-week schedule, with a 30-minute response time when on call

Unit Overview

  • Labor & Delivery / Postpartum / Mother-Baby unit
  • 12 L&D beds
  • 1 OR suite
  • 1 triage bed
  • 4 postpartum beds
  • Approximately 80–100 births per year
  • AWHONN guidelines are followed
  • Telemetry is available
  • Monitor techs are present
  • RN reads strips on the unit

Patient Population

  • Gestational hypertension
  • Gestational diabetes
  • Preeclampsia

Required Qualifications

  • Basic fetal monitoring
  • BLS certification
  • Knowledge of AWHONN guidelines
  • Experience with antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care
  • Ability to titrate drips

Preferred

  • Ability to circulate and recover cesarean sections

Additional Notes

  • OB techs support the unit
  • No OB/neonatologist in house 24/7
  • Common drips include oxytocin, insulin, and epidural
  • CPAP, BiPAP, and ventilator equipment are used on the unit
  • No floating required
  • Unit-specific orientation is provided
  • Scrubs are provided
  • A copy of an unexpired driver’s license must be submitted
  • Licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission
  • 100-mile radius rule applies
