Job Overview

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• 1 year of experience as an RN in an outpatient cardiology clinic and triage setting
• EPIC experience

Key Responsibilities

• Triage cardiology patient calls and messages using clinic protocols and provider direction
• Assess symptoms and determine appropriate escalation
• Reinforce medication instructions ordered by providers
• Perform medication reconciliation, vital signs, pain assessment, and 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition
• Escalate urgent concerns such as chest pain, shortness of breath, syncope, stroke-like symptoms, uncontrolled bleeding, unstable vitals, or vascular access complications

Relevant Clinical Skills

• Arrhythmia interpretation
• CPR/cardiac arrest response
• AED use
• Oxygen administration
• Patient education on lifestyle and medication adherence
• Follow-up phone calls
• Quality improvement initiatives

Additional Notes

• The role is ambulatory and not procedural sedation or cath lab intra-procedure nursing unless specifically trained and credentialed
• Patients may be medically complex and include those preparing for or recovering from cardiac catheterization, PCI/stent placement, EP procedures, structural heart procedures, cardioversions, or vascular/interventional studies
