Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse
Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Medical-Surgical ICU
- Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
- Charting System: Epic
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID
- E-Verify compliance (for direct hires)
- Background Checks:
- 7-year background check updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks upon hire
- Education verification of highest level completed
- Work History Verification: 7 years required
- Employment Application and Resume
- Unit-specific Skills Checklist (annual)
- Photo for badge (clear headshot)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam within 12 months of start
- Fit Test for approved masks within 1 year, renewed annually
- Immunizations/Vaccine Requirements:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if negative/equivocal
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history of chickenpox
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
Additional Notes
- Candidates residing in certain Texas counties (e.g., Henderson, Anderson, Smith, Gregg, and others) are not eligible for this travel assignment.
- Orientation and training may require fingerprinting (specific to some states).
- Core competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency tests may be required depending on the profession.
- Annual renewal of core testing and certifications may be required.
