MRI Tech - Travel/Contract

Location: Mount Pleasant, South Carolina

Job Description

• Perform high-quality MRI examinations on various patient populations following established protocols.
• Work under general supervision, reporting to site supervisor and radiology manager.
• Duties include general MRI exams and specialized imaging such as implants, elastography, defecography, breast, and cardiac MRI.
• Potential float between two nearby outpatient clinic locations.

Schedule

• Monday to Friday, primarily 5 shifts of 8 hours (12:30 PM – 9:00 PM).
• Alternative shift options considered: 4x10-hour shifts (10:30 AM – 9:00 PM) or 3x12-hour shifts (8:30 AM – 9:00 PM).
• Saturday work required 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM on some weeks, with adjusted weekday hours to maintain a 40-hour workweek.
• No call or holiday shifts required.

Required Qualifications

• MRI Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
• MRI Technologist experience within the last year.
• ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Licensure & Certifications

• ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification mandatory; no state license required.
• BLS certification required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications as applicable.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
• Background check within 1 year covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
• Physical exam within 90 days prior to start, confirming fitness to work without restrictions.
• Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually (specific mask models required).
• Immunizations and health screenings:

  • Tdap within 10 years or declination form.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days.
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccination or positive titer; declination accepted for mumps and rubella only.
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination.
  • Varicella vaccination, documented chickenpox history, or declination.
• 10-panel drug screen within 90 days prior to start.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (August 1 – March 31).
• COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated.

Additional Information

• Radius rule: must live within 60 miles of the facility.
• Locals may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• Facility uses Epic for charting.
• Scrub code: teal top and black pants.
• Parking is free.
• Hurricane season (June–November) may require assignment to emergency response teams; candidates should consider this before accepting new or extension assignments.

Notes

• Radiation badge processing can take 5-7 days; candidates cannot start patient care until badge is received.
• Orientation modules must be completed within 5 days of start.
• Photo for badge must meet specific requirements and be submitted before start.
• All required documents and certifications must be submitted and approved prior to start.

This position is ideal for MRI technologists with at least 2 years of experience, certified in MRI, and comfortable working varied shifts including some Saturdays in an outpatient clinic setting.
