Location

• Lufkin, Texas

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts
• 36 hours per week, or 36/48 hours every other week
• Scheduling is set by the manager; block scheduling is not available
• Every other weekend required
• Holidays required
• No call or standby

Unit Details

• 25 beds
• Patient ratio: 5-6:1
• Common patient types include CHF, diabetes, pneumonia, CKD, and med/surg telemetry
• Tele monitor techs monitor patients; RNs must be able to read strips
• PCTs are present at a 12:1 ratio
• Respiratory support on the unit includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow patients

Floating

• Float to all med/surg units and possibly to PCU for telemetry holds prior to transfer

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• BLS
• ACLS
• 18+ months of recent Med/Tele experience
• Ability to read telemetry strips
• Strong communication and time management skills

Preferred

• Rural hospital experience

Additional Notes

• This is a rural hospital with high reliance on travelers in Med/Tele units
• Team-oriented, hard-working candidates are preferred
• Unit orientation includes 2 shadow/orientation shifts
• Charting system: Paragon, with transition to Epic planned for Oct. 30, 2026
