    Labor and Delivery RN

    Overview

    • Location: Seattle, Washington
    • Employment type: Travel/Contract
    • Shift: Night, 3x12 hours
    • Hours per week: 36
    • Contract length: 13 weeks
    • Schedule notes: Posted every 6 weeks and adjusted to unit needs
    • First-time travelers: Accepted

    Required Qualifications

    • Valid RN license in Washington
    • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
    • Labor and Delivery (3 years of experience)
    • Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
    • 2 years of experience in high acuity and high pace environments
    • High-risk obstetric experience
    • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation
    • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure
    • EFM - Electronic Fetal Monitoring
    • Ability to circulate in the operating room
    • Newborn care including eye care, Vitamin K injections, thigh assessment, and newborn assessment
    • Post Partum experience
    • Antepartum experience

    Required Certifications

    • BLS
    • NRP

    Preferred Certifications

    • ACLS
    • AWHONN Advanced
    • AWHONN Intermediate

    Clinical Expectations

    • Float to postpartum and antepartum
    • May float to sister facilities that provide mother/baby care
    • Work every other weekend and holidays as needed
    • Experience with high-risk, high-volume labor and delivery
    • Role includes functioning as baby nurse during delivery and continuing newborn care until transfer to postpartum

    Unit Details

    • 4 operating rooms
    • 31 rooms
    • 31 beds
    • Average daily census: 15
    • Approximately 500–600 deliveries per month

    Additional Notes

    • EPIC familiarity is required
    • Electronic fetal monitoring experience is expected
    • Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
    • Heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate are part of the unit’s clinical context
