ER Registered Nurse

Location

• Renton, Washington

Contract

• 16 weeks
• 36 hours per week
• 12-hour shifts
• Day and evening shifts
• Variable schedule
• Every other weekend
• Holiday coverage required

Required Qualifications

• Active RN experience in the emergency department
• 2+ years of ER experience
• 1+ year of trauma experience
• Prior travel experience
• ACLS
• BLS
• ENPC
• NIHSS
• PALS
• TNCC
• Epic experience
• No license hits involving diverting meds or endangerment

Unit Details

• 55-bed emergency department with 4 trauma bays and 8–12 swing beds
• Fast track area
• Separate triage area
• Separate psych/seclusion rooms
• 250 patients per day
• Ratios: 4:1 in main ED, 5:1 in fast track, 2:1 in critical care

Clinical Responsibilities

• May be asked to triage after additional orientation and competency testing
• Manage ER holds
• Transport critical patients
• Draw ABGs
• Set up small-dose breathing treatments
• Perform ECGs with MST staff
• Read strips with MST staff

Patient Population

• STEMI
• Stroke
• DKA
• Sepsis
• Trauma
• Respiratory diseases
• Behavioral health

Orientation

• First day with ED leadership and badging
• 2–3 bedside orientation shifts

Additional Notes

• Royal blue scrubs required for nursing
• Must provide culturally competent care to a highly diverse patient population
