ICU Registered Nurse

Location

Omaha, Nebraska

Contract Length

20 weeks

Schedule

12-hour shifts
Day and night shifts available
36 hours per week
Every other weekend
Holiday schedule varies based on unit needs

Required Qualifications

Active RN license
2 years of unit experience
BLS
ACLS
NIHSS
Driver’s license required at submittal

Job Details

ICU setting
Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
May care for higher-acuity downgraded patients at ratios of 1:4 to 1:5
Common patient types include COPD, pneumonia, CVA, TIA, DKA, sepsis, CHF, STEMI, and neuro cases
Must titrate drips
Common drips include vasopressors, insulin, TNK, heparin, IV antibiotics, and sedatives
Must read and interpret telemetry strips
Will float to PCU and medical floors
Uses vents and BiPAPs
Navy blue scrubs required

Orientation and Screening

First week includes system orientation and onboarding
Unit orientation includes 1 to 2 twelve-hour shifts
RN pass/fail exam is given during orientation

Additional Notes

Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius
Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and Dignity
RTO must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
