Description

ICU Registered Nurse

Location

  • Omaha, Nebraska

Contract Length

  • 20 weeks

Schedule

  • 12-hour shifts
  • Day and night shifts available
  • 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend
  • Holiday schedule varies based on unit needs

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license
  • 2 years of unit experience
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NIHSS
  • Driver’s license required at submittal

Job Details

  • ICU setting
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
  • May care for higher-acuity downgraded patients at ratios of 1:4 to 1:5
  • Common patient types include COPD, pneumonia, CVA, TIA, DKA, sepsis, CHF, STEMI, and neuro cases
  • Must titrate drips
  • Common drips include vasopressors, insulin, TNK, heparin, IV antibiotics, and sedatives
  • Must read and interpret telemetry strips
  • Will float to PCU and medical floors
  • Uses vents and BiPAPs
  • Navy blue scrubs required

Orientation and Screening

  • First week includes system orientation and onboarding
  • Unit orientation includes 1 to 2 twelve-hour shifts
  • RN pass/fail exam is given during orientation

Additional Notes

  • Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
  • Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius
  • Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and Dignity
  • RTO must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
