Registered Nurse — Surgical ICU

Location

• Peoria, Illinois

Contract

• 13 weeks
• Nights
• 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS
• ACLS
• ICU experience
• Level I trauma experience

Unit Details

• Surgical ICU with 13 beds
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2; may also be 1:1 or 1:3
• Common patient types include post-surgical, open abdomen, multisystem trauma, and endovascular cases
• Nurses are expected to titrate drips, including pressors, sedation, paralytics, and insulin
• Respiratory therapy is in the ICU 24/7
• Telemetry monitor techs are present, and nurses read and interpret strips
• Charge nurse and house supervisor coverage is available
• Nursing assistants/patient care techs are assigned at a ratio of 1:10

Schedule and Expectations

• Weekend coverage required: 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week period
• Holiday coverage required: every other holiday
• No call or standby requirement
• Floating may occur to lower levels of care, where the nurse would take a full patient assignment

Orientation

• 12 hours of non-billable orientation
• Unit-specific orientation includes EPIC training, educator time, shadowing, and preceptor time

Additional Notes

• Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted
• Drug screen required
• No specific scrub color is required
