ICU Registered Nurse

Schedule

12-hour nights
Every other weekend
Self-scheduling is available for core staff; travelers are added in
Block scheduling is not guaranteed

Required Qualifications

Active RN license
BLS
ACLS
NIHSS
Driver’s license required at submittal
Must be able to pass a pass/fail open-book exam during orientation with a score of 90% or higher

Clinical Expectations

ICU nursing
Must be able to titrate drips
Must be able to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips
May float to PCU and occasionally MedSurg
May care for adult patients with trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress

Average daily census of 16
Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2-3 for adults

Additional Notes

Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
If called back in while on call, arrival is required within 30 minutes
At least 2 holidays must be worked during the contract
Up to 7 days of requested time off is needed upfront for a 13-week contract; additional time off is not approved
