Description
Registered Nurse
Location: Bloomington, Illinois
Specialty: Alternate Birthing Center
Contract length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- NRP certification
- Must be skilled in labor and delivery
Unit Details
- 12 LDRP rooms
- 2 triage rooms
- About 700 deliveries per year
- Typical patient population includes labor, postpartum, and level II nursery newborns
- Charge RN works each shift and does not take a patient assignment
- OB techs and unit secretaries support the unit
- Neonatology provider is in house 24/7
- CPAP is used for the level II nursery with RT assistance for setup
- Obix EFM system with Phillips monitors is used for fetal monitoring
Schedule and Work Expectations
- 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM–7:30 PM or 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- Every other weekend required
- Every other holiday required
- No call or standby requirement
- Float hospital-wide as needed for tasking and team nursing model
Orientation and Dress Code
- 2–3 shifts of unit orientation, depending on the traveler
- Hospital-provided scrubs
Submission Requirements
- Last four digits of SSN
- Middle initial
- Requested time off
- Negative drug screen for all panels
Additional Notes
- Local rate applies within 50 miles of the facility
- 12 non-billable orientation hours
- Call-off policy allows 12 hours every 13 weeks without penalty or shift repayment
