RN (Registered Nurse) — Surgical ICU

Location

• Peoria, Illinois

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Schedule

• 12-hour day shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Weekend requirement: 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week period
• Holiday requirement: every other holiday

Setting

• Surgical ICU with 13 beds
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
• May also be 1:1 or 1:3 depending on staffing and acuity

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS
• ACLS
• ICU experience
• Level I trauma experience
• Must be able to titrate drips

Clinical Responsibilities

• Care for post-surgical, open abdomen, multisystem trauma, and endovascular patients
• Titrate pressors, sedation, paralytics, and insulin drips
• Read and interpret telemetry strips
• Float to lower levels of care and take a full patient assignment if needed

Unit Support

• Charge nurse available as staffing allows
• House supervisor available 24/7
• Respiratory therapy in the ICU 24/7
• Monitor techs on the unit
• Intensivist coverage in person during the day, with telemedicine support and on-call attending coverage

Additional Notes

• Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted
• Drug screen required
• Requested time off and the last four digits of SSN are needed for submission
• No call or standby requirement
• No specific scrub color required
• Orientation includes EPIC training and unit precepting
