Description
PCU RN
Location
- Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length
- 18 weeks
Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts
- 36 hours per week
- Weekend requirement: 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
- Holidays rotate with permanent staff
Unit Details
- Progressive care unit with 28 beds
- Typical patient population includes adults from the ER, mixed medical/surgical, cardiac, and stroke patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
- Charge nurse is present on each shift and may occasionally take patients
- Nursing assistants/patient care techs are available at a ratio of 1:14
- No unit secretary on the unit
- High-volume unit with frequent admissions, transfers, and discharges
Required Qualifications
- RN license
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
- Must be able to titrate drips
- Must be able to read and interpret telemetry
- Driver’s license required at submittal
- Must be within 50 miles of the facility
- Cannot be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and Dignity
Orientation
- First week is classroom orientation, followed by 2 twelve-hour shifts
Floating
- May float to Med/Surg and other areas of the hospital, including ICU and ED when appropriate
Additional Notes
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
- RTO must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
- Candidates must pass an open-book orientation exam with a score of 90% or higher
