Intermediate Intensive Care Registered Nurse
Job Overview
- Location: Columbia, South Carolina
- Employment type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Night, 3x12 hours
- Hours per week: 36
- Contract length: 13 weeks or 26 weeks
- Weekend requirement: 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
- Holiday requirement: Must work 2 of the 3 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day
- Floating: Required to float to other units or campuses as needed, within documented competencies
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Intermediate Care (2 years of experience)
- Intermediate Care experience within the last year
- ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience
- One completed travel assignment
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS
- Proficiency in cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring
- Medication management skills including titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Ventilator experience
- Experience with Epic

- Experience with progressive care settings such as PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown may be considered
Unit Details
- Adult intermediate intensive care setting
- Patient population includes trauma, medical, surgical, and neurology cases
- Typical ratio: 1:3
- Monitoring or interventions may be needed every 1–2 hours
- Unit receives direct admissions, ICU transfers, and Rapid Response escalations
Scheduling Notes
- RTO, block scheduling, and special scheduling requests must be submitted with the application and are only accommodated if approved at booking
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
Additional Notes
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Local candidates are accepted, subject to radius rule criteria
- Pending license is not accepted
- EPIC experience is required for 1 year
